Donald J. Trump Sr. is the ultimate reality TV victim. A few years from now when he has nothing but his Twitter and maybe the Trump Tower apartment, the Donald may wish he had said no to NBC.

One trend you point out here is the disappearance of truth from TV. I remember when CNN showed news and the History Channel showed History. I have to wonder if the “tuning” out of television by people under 40 has something to do with that.
