Frightening Parallels between Revolutionary France and Modern America

There are some frightening similarities between 21st century America and 18th century France just before the French Revolution.

For example, 18th century France was a military superpower with the world’s most powerful army like modern America. Moreover, 18th century France had the world’s most sophisticated culture. Pre-revolutionary France was the home of the Enlightenment and some of the world’s greatest writers and philosophers. For example, Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
