Interesting point. Historically, the United States has been a Christian country with a secular system of government. However, we may now be a post-Christian country with a secular government. What’s changed is that both secularists and some Christians have become aggressive about pushing their faith on everybody else. Average people care less about faith but the believers are getting more passionate. Oddly, historically Democrats were the party of the Christian right until the 1960s.
