My guess is Yang is trying to get the votes of social services bureaucrats who fear job loss because of basic income. I agree they need to pay a basic income for each child regardless of the parents’ income. Yang’s scheme sounds like a great deal for a young man, a lousy deal for a single mother or a couple with two kids. Moreover, they need to pay the basic income for senior citizens.
