My take is that America is a poorly coached team while China is like an army unit run by a tough Sergeant Major. China sort of works because the members of the unit are scared of the Sergeant. Unfortunately, it breaks down the minute the Sergeant is not around. America sometimes works because competent members of the team do their thing and succeed.
