The Electoral College is a huge part of the problem. Unfortunately, it’s a difficult issue that will be politically hard to solve. Hence, neither party wants to touch it.

Yet, Trump did not get a majority and that is fueling unrest. It is something Republicans need to consider. How can they can be an effective political party if they fail to take the popular will into account. Especially a party that claims to be populist.
